BEEF SUBMARINE

 

Ingredients:

  • 150g button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (7g)
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 150g lean beef, sliced
  • 1 medium size hot-dog bun
  • 30g low fat mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 20g lettuce, thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano 
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. With the rack in the middle position, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  1. In a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, brown the mushrooms in half of the oil. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside on a plate.
  1. In the same skillet, brown the onions. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside with the mushrooms.
  1. In the same skillet, brown half of the meat at a time in the remaining oil. Season with salt, pepper, and oregano. If desired, thinly slice the meat.
  1. Cut the bun in half and place on the baking sheet. Fill the buns with the meat, mushrooms and onions and tomato. Sprinkle with the cheese and bake for a few minutes or until the cheese has melted approximately for 10minutes.
