BRAISED TOFU

 

Ingredients:

  • 150g extra-firm tofu
  • 1 teaspoon Extra virgin olive oil (7g)
  • 150g fresh button mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 50 ml water
  • 3g basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Slice tofu block into cubes. Wrap each slab in paper towels and press to squeeze out excess water.
  1. Coat a large skillet with olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the tofu slabs to the skillet. Fry for about 5 minutes on each side, or until delicately browned.
  1. Remove tofu from skillet, and slice into cubes. Add the mushrooms Mix together water and oyster sauce and add to the skillet along with the tofu. Cover, and cook over low heat for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Top with basil leaves and serve.
