Charred Miso Butter Broccoli

 

Ingredients: The ingredient amounts are for four portions.

  • Tenderstem Broccoli 250g or 8.8oz
  • Water 3 tbsp
  • Miso Paste 1 tsp
  • Lemon Juice 1 wedge
  • Butter 1 tsp, reduced fat
  • Olive Oil 1 tsp
  • Chilli Flakes pinch

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mash the butter and miso paste together until fully combined. Set
aside.


Heat a large non-stick or cast-iron frying pan over high heat until very hot —
about 2–3 minutes. Add olive oil, then lay the broccoli in a single layer, cut side
down. Let it cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes or until the underside is deeply
charred and golden.


Flip the broccoli and pour in 3 tbsp of water. Cover with a lid or foil and let it steam
for 1 minute, or until the water has evaporated.


Reduce the heat to medium. Add the miso butter to the pan and gently toss the
broccoli until evenly coated and glossy — about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
Sprinkle with chilli flakes and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
