BEEF SLOPPY BURGERS

Ingredients:

  • 150g Ground Red Meat (Lean Beef, Veal, Lamb Leg, Kangaroo, Goat, Camel)
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil (7g)
  • 1 whole-wheat hamburger bun or English muffin
  • 50g onions, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tablespoon paprika
  • 50ml water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  • Cook the ground beef in oil for 7-8 minutes or until no longer pink, then remove from heat, drain, and set aside the ground beef;
  • In the same skillet, add the onions and cook for 2-3 minutes or until tender;
  • Add in the garlic, stir, and cook for an additional minute then Stir in the tomato paste and the ketchup.
  • Mix in the brown sugar, mustard, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper and stir well.
  • Mix in the water and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the water evaporates.
  • Serve the mixture on the toasted bun and enjoy.
